Marketing Show North: The Most Inventive Exhibition Stands

Helen BeecroftDesign, Exhibitions, Retail, Retail display advice

Recently, we popped over to Marketing Show North and came across some great exhibitors.

Being there as a consumer really helped us to see what techniques would draw us in. Would it be bright lights? Good giveaways? Or maybe even free food…

Well, here were four of the most inventive exhibition stand designs we saw - and there are definitely some surprises.

1. Emarsys

We loved this exhibition for a few reasons. It was clean, the branding was clear and it gave the Emarsys team the opportunity to chat with potential clients in a comfortable environment. Having the table and chairs as part of their exhibition draws people in - and because of the comfort - probably makes them stay a little while longer too.

2. Flipbook Studio

Flipbook Studio’s use of the VR headsets really stood out among the crowd. VR is a hot topic right now and as specialists in animation and visual effects, it gave them a great way to show off their best work in a fun and engaging way for the audience.

3. UKFast

The phrase “go big or go home” isn’t lost on these guys!

4. Eat My Logo

Simple yet effective from these guys. It wasn’t necessarily the stand that impressed us, it was how they used clever retail POS to display their products. The quality of the product shown was also brilliant (and tasted good), which makes a massive difference too.

  • Maximise your space - it’s so important to utilise every inch you’re given at an exhibition. Work with your designer and ensure you’ve planned every last detail. We like to give our clients a detailed proposal that shows exactly where everything will sit and exactly how it will look. This way, when the stand is first erected, there will be no unwanted surprises and your investment is maximised.
  • Interactivity - having something interactive on your stand makes a huge difference. Whether this creates some healthy competition among attendees, or it leaves a lasting impression on a person about your brand, you can’t go wrong. We loved the VR and Scalextric as previously mentioned, but you could do this with a simple data capture quiz on an iPad too.
  • Set goals - before you’ve even put pen to paper on having an exhibition stand, ensure you’ve set goals for the day. Who is the audience? Will you take leads for new clients back to the office? While these exhibitions are great for brand awareness, ultimately your MD will care about the ROI and that’s what we want to help you with.
